Luminate Margam is open from November 17th - December 31st.

In order to ensure that Luminate can be enjoyed by everyone to the utmost, it has been designed as a continuous experience, with strictly fixed entry time slots, starting from 4.30pm onwards, which must be pre-booked in advance.
To ensure the enjoyment and safety of all our visitors, we allocate a set number of tickets per timeslot and would ask that all visitors adhere to their booked timeslot. Our entry time slots are every fifteen minutes from 4.30-4.45pm through to 8.00pm – 8.15pm. At certain sites, we offer later slots on popular nights (Please check the site ticketing page for more info).

We've added more dog days! Dogs will be welcome to join their two legged friends on 17th, 24th and 27th November, 1st, 4th, 8th, 11th, 15th, 18th, 22nd, 26th and 29th December 2025. Only on these days, you and your pups can enjoy the magical trails together. Just look for the dog symbol on our calendar. Remember, apart from these days, dogs aren't allowed at Luminate. We can't wait to see you and your canine companions! 🐕✨
These are the only dates when dogs are permitted. We want to make sure everyone has a great time, so please follow these simple rules:
• Each dog must have a responsible adult to supervise and control them at all times— maximum of two dogs per adult, please!
• Just like our two-legged guests, dogs need to stick to the marked footpath.
• Keep your pup on a short lead—no extendable leads, please.
• Never leave your dog unattended.
• If a dog shows aggressive behaviour towards people or fellow dogs, they won’t be able to join the trail.
Luminate reserves the right to refuse entry or ask any misbehaving or disruptive dogs to leave for the safety and enjoyment of all visitors.
And, of course, please clean up after your pet using the bins provided. 💩
Remember, Luminate is a vibrant, magical place with flashing lights, smoke effects, and lots of music and people. If your dog might feel uneasy, distressed, or act aggressively in this environment, it’s best to leave them at home.
Thank you for being responsible dog owners and helping us to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for everyone!
*** XL BULLY DOGS** We do not allow XL Bully Dogs and/or banned/dangerous breed dogs at Luminate. Entry will be denied to any person attempting to bring those breeds on site.

Address: Margam Country Park, Margam Neath Port Talbot SA13 2TJ

Margam is 14 miles east (20 mins drive down the A483 and M4) from Swansea and 30 miles west from Cardiff (35 mins drive down the M4)

By public transport: From Cardiff or Swansea take the train to Port Talbot, then the X4 Bridgend bus for 15 mins, getting off at the Crematorium, and it's a 5 min walk from there. Or it's a 10 min Taxi from Port Talbot station.

By road: off the M4 at Junction 38, 1/2 a mile down the A48.

😊 When you arrive, just head past the entrance kiosk to park in the Orangery Car Park. You can also use the car park right in front of the kiosk. (It may look like grass, but there's a sturdy trackway underneath!) Just follow the signs and listen to our friendly parking stewards once you're on site. Safe travels!

Parking is £5 per car. Remember to add this to your booking when getting those tickets to avoid any awkward "Oops, I forgot!" moments.

We’ve put a lot into our car parks, like lighting, staffing, and trackways, to make sure everyone parks safely and easily. On busy nights, parking is in high demand, so by reducing the number of cars, more folks can enjoy Luminate on their favourite dates! We're also big on reducing our environmental footprint, so we hope this charge encourages car-sharing. Plus, sharing the ride means sharing the excitement too! 🎉

Please arrive no more than 10-15 minutes before your start time. From the car park the trail starts straight away (there are no shops or food and drink outlets before the start of the trial, only toilets). So please allow time to park and head to the start of our trail in readiness for your time slot opening, but do not arrive earlier than that. We will not be able to admit you prior to your booked session time. Last entry is 8.00pm. Please note the catering closes at 9.30pm

Daytime visitors need to leave the Gardens by 4pm. Only those with pre-booked Luminate tickets can enter the trail afterwards. Make sure to have your tickets ready, and remember, entry is only during your specific time slot. Enjoy! ✨

Father Christmas is super busy making presents, so he won't be at Luminate Wales this year! But don't worry, we've got a magical winter adventure lined up for the whole family to enjoy! 🎄✨

This Christmas, instead of the same, boring ideas, why not treat your family and friends to a wonderful, winter walk at our mesmerising light trail, Luminate Wales at Margam Park? And remember our last event sold out, so this is a great chance to get your loved ones tickets before the most popular dates are fully booked! The perfect way to bring some light and sparkle to your festive calendar.

How do I book?

Simply go to Buy Tickets and select your chosen date & time-slot. Ensure that you check the “This is a gift” box and this will enable your gift recipient to change the date/time slot you have selected (at no extra cost). You will receive a booking confirmation email – with a detachable section to hand over to your recipient. Details of how they can transfer their date, will be included on that section.

*Please note, any changes are subject to availability and must be made at least 10 days prior to the booked session. In the unlikely event that we had to cancel Luminate all tickets purchased are fully refundable.

The trail has been created to be as accessible as possible within the context of the natural site of Margam Country Park and Castle. Please note that the overall site at Luminate Margam covers some steep gradients, so regrettably the trail does involve some unavoidable steep inclines/declines, which unfortunately some guests using wheelchairs/mobility aids may find very difficult. If a member of your party wishes to visit in advance (either in the daytime or on a separate night) to assess this, prior to your scheduled trip, please contact margam@luminate.live and we can happily facilitate this.

All of the route is outside and not under cover. Following the completion of the bottom section of the trail, the trail proceeds up a steep section of the Orangery gardens. If you are familiar with the site, this is up the usual site path which crosses the waterfall bridge and continues straight up towards the Castle Car park. This section is over permanent paths, but they are a softer standing path and may be difficult to traverse during/after inclement weather. After the catering area/fire pits, the trail proceeds down the permanent path in front of the wide Castle steps and towards the blue orangery gates. Stewards are located throughout the trail, should you need assistance at all during your visit please just ask one of our stewards. If you need any further information prior to your visit, please contact us on access@luminate.live.

Whilst care has been taken to remove all known trip hazards, the trail does take place in a country park, so may have stones/leaves/twigs etc, across the path. There will be some sections where cabling crosses the trail, these will be covered by cable ramp covers.

Accessible toilets are situated at the Car-Park and at the Castle Courtyard (approximately 0.7 miles into the trail).

If extreme weather conditions mean that the trail is not fully accessible for people using wheeled mobility aids (bearing in mind the general limitations as set out above), consideration will be made on a case by case basis to allow tickets to be transferred to an alternative date when the ground conditions are more suitable.

Please note that Waterfall Bridge is wide enough to fit a standard wheelchair (and/or standard single pram). If your wheelchair/mobility aid is wider than standard, please contact us so that we can advise further as to suitability.

We want everybody who attends Luminate to have a wonderful experience with us and our stewards on the night will all be happy to assist you wherever possible. If you need any assistance on the night, please just ask. If you have any further questions about access that are not covered by the above, please contact us via email on access@luminate.live.

You are welcome to bring your own mobility scooter. Unfortunately, we don't have any available to hire.

We're thrilled to offer special time slots for guests with additional sensory needs! 2025 Sensory night dates at Margam are 2nd and 9th December.

Here's what you can look forward to:
-Fewer people on the trail
-Lower audio volume
-A more relaxed and less crowded experience
Last year's visitors, especially those with sensory needs, had a fantastic time, and we're excited to make it even better with these quieter sessions.

Our friendly stewards are here to make your night magical. If you need any extra help, just ask! They're trained to recognize the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower symbol if anyone in your group plans to wear it.

For more about accessibility, check out our Access section above. We know surprises can be fun, but we also understand that some guests may prefer more information beforehand. If you'd like details about the trail layout or anything else to enhance your visit, please reach out to us at sensory@luminate.live.

Ticket prices for these nights are the same as our regular sessions. Carer tickets are available as per our standard policy.

We can't wait to welcome you! 😊
Event FAQ's

Cue the magical soundtrack, and let your feet do the walking through Margam Country Park and Castle! 🌟
As you wander, the gardens and castle exterior come alive with dazzling lights and playful displays. This year's trail is like last years, but bigger, bolder, and with an extra sprinkle of pixie dust! Stretching about a mile, it’s the perfect excuse to stretch your legs and maybe your patience (depending on how often you stop for selfies). Expect to spend 60-90 magical minutes on this journey.
Need a break? Swing by our fire pit for some marshmallow-toasting action (grab some on-site or BYOM – bring your own marshmallows, don’t forget the skewers). And when hunger strikes, we've got you covered with our Courtyard café and a lineup of street food vendors serving up delicious bites until about 9pm. Don’t forget to swing by our drinks and mulled wine huts for a bit of liquid cheer! 🍷

Get ready to indulge in some tasty festive treats and drinks during your visit! We'll share more details soon, but you can count on hot chocolate, tea, coffee, mulled wine, and marshmallows by the fire pit. Feel free to bring your own marshmallows, just remember the skewers!
🚫 No outside alcohol allowed—anyone caught with it will be asked to leave, no refunds.

Luminate takes place outdoors, during the winter, after dark. Luminate will go ahead whatever the weather (other than in very exceptional circumstances, if we consider it unsafe to open).
So it will be cold, dark and, on rainy days, wet! Please wrap up warmly & wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear suitable for winter weather.

Follow the twinkling festoon lights along the path, and you'll never lose your way! 😊 Friendly stewards are also there along the trail to guide you, ensuring you have a smooth and enjoyable experience.

To keep everyone safe and make sure you have a blast, please stick to the clearly marked trail at all times. Kids and vulnerable adults need to be watched closely. Since Luminate happens during winter nights in a country estate, areas off the path may have hidden trip hazards. So, stay on track and follow any advice from our friendly stewards.

At Luminate Wales, there are unfenced water areas off the trail. Keep an extra eye on the little ones and vulnerable adults!

Our team will be checking trail conditions continuously, but remember, it's an outdoor event in winter after dark, so a bit of caution goes a long way. Supervision of children and vulnerable adults is key!

Enjoy our interactive light installations—they're a lot of fun! Just look for the ones marked for interaction, with stewards nearby to help out. Please avoid touching any other lights or electrical setups, and keep supervising your group to ensure everyone's safe.

Please note, dogs aren't allowed, except for guide dogs and assistance dogs. Enjoy your magical night with us! 😊

🐾 Hey there, fellow dog lovers! For everyone's safety and fun, we kindly ask that you leave your furry friends at home when visiting Luminate, except for guide and assistance dogs. But guess what? We've got some pawsome news! 🐶

🌟 BACK FOR 2025 🌟

We've added more dog days! Dogs will be welcome to join their two legged friends on 24th and 27th November, 1st, 4th, 8th, 11th, 15th, 18th, 22nd, 26th and 29th December 2025. Only on these days, you and your pups can enjoy the magical trails together. Just look for the dog symbol on our calendar. Remember, apart from these days, dogs aren't allowed at Luminate. We can't wait to see you and your canine companions! 🐕✨

Our furry friends are welcome on these nights, provided at all times their owners follow the rules below:

All dogs must be accompanied by a responsible adult and remain under the supervision and control of the responsible adult at all times.

1 dog per adult max

As with all two legged guests, dogs must remain on the clearly marked footpath at all times.

Dogs must be kept on a short lead at all times - no extendable leads please.

Dogs must not be left unattended at any time.

Any dogs behaving aggressively (including towards other dogs) will not be allowed to enter the trail or will be asked to leave. Luminate reserves the right to refuse entry or to remove any dogs we feel are dangerous/a safety risk to other dogs and visitors or any which are causing a disturbance and disrupting the event for other visitors.

Please be a responsible dog owner - clean up after your pet and use the bins provided.

Thank you in advance for co-operating with these rules to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment. Failure to comply with any of the above rules will result in your dog being denied entry/removed from the trail.

*** XL BULLY DOGS** Please note that you must provide proof of a Certificate of exemption before attending with a banned breed. Please email a copy of the certificate along with proof of insurance and your order number to info@luminate.live. In line with current legislation your dog must be muzzled and kept on a lead at all times.

You know your dog best, Luminate is a fun filled magical element, with flashing lights, smoke effects, loud music and lots of people. If your dog is likely to be unsettled/distressed /aggressive because of any of this, please do not bring them.

Our light trails feature awesome pulsating and flashing light effects, with some cool haze and smoke effects along the way. Please note, certain parts might not be suitable for those with balance disorders. If you have any concerns or need any help before your visit, feel free to reach out to us at sensory@luminate.live, and we'll be happy to assist!

If you've left something behind at Luminate, don't panic! Just shoot us an email at info@luminatewales.com with full details of your visit, including the night and time slot you were there and what mysteriously vanished. We'll channel our inner detectives to reunite you with your lost treasures. 🕵️‍♂️🔦

We absolutely adore our Luminate team—Want to join the magic for our 2025 season? Drop us a line at info@luminate.live and become part of the glow-up! 🌟

There is a disabled car park area, super close to the pedestrian entrance to the trail with limited spaces. Just a heads-up: while we can't guarantee a Blue Badge space, we'll do our best to park you as close as possible if the dedicated car park is full.

Our event will have scrumptious hot food and drinks up for grabs—more details coming soon! For those craving a cosy vibe, head over to the fire pit for hot chocolate, tea, coffee, mulled wine, and marshmallows. Feel free to bring your own marshmallows, but don't forget the skewers! 😜

And on a serious note, bringing your own alcohol is a no-go. Anyone caught sneaking in their own booze will be shown the exit—no refunds, no exceptions! 🚫🍾

You'll find toilets conveniently located in the car park at the trail's beginning, about a quarter of the way along, and at the café courtyard around three-quarters in. Both the car park and café courtyard facilities include accessible toilets for your convenience. 😊

All of the trail is outside and is not under-cover. All visitors are reminded that this is an outdoor event, taking place in the winter and the weather may well be inclement. Please wrap up warm and wear appropriate outdoor winter clothing and appropriate footwear.

In many areas the lighting will be low level as part of the experience. We do encourage visitors to bring along a torch in case of an emergency but would ask, for your own enjoyment, to only use this if necessary. Please ensure that children and vulnerable adults are supervised at all times.

For your own safety and enjoyment, please at all times remain on the clearly marked trail. Follow the festoon!

We encourage you to take photographs and to share these on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #luminatewales.

While we’ve loved offering discounted tickets to our incredible emergency service workers, we’re now shifting focus to make an even greater impact.
